By downloading or using Hanzi Roast, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Description of Service

Hanzi Roast is a Chinese character writing practice app that provides:

• Stroke-by-stroke character practice
• AI-powered feedback (premium feature)
• Progress tracking and spaced repetition
• Cloud synchronization across devices

3. User Accounts

• You must provide accurate information when creating an account
• You are responsible for maintaining account security
• One account per person; no sharing credentials
• We may suspend accounts that violate these terms

4. Subscriptions & Payments

4.1 Free Trial

• 7-day free trial with full access to all features
• Unlimited character practice
• Full HSK 1-6 content access
• AI-powered Shifu feedback
• Cloud sync
• Subscription required after trial expires

4.2 Premium Subscription ("Hanzi Roast Premium")

• Continued access after trial ends
• All features from free trial
• Detailed stroke breakdowns
• Priority support

4.3 Billing

• Subscriptions are billed through Apple App Store
• Prices: Weekly ($4.99), Monthly ($14.99), Yearly ($69.99)
• Auto-renewal unless cancelled 24 hours before period ends
• Manage subscriptions in iOS Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions

4.4 Refunds

• Refund requests are handled by Apple per their policies
• Contact Apple Support for refund inquiries

5. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

• Reverse engineer or decompile the app
• Use the app for any illegal purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
• Share or redistribute app content
• Use automated tools or bots with the app

6. Intellectual Property

• Hanzi Roast and its content are owned by Hanzi Roast
• Character stroke data and educational content are proprietary
• You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works

7. AI-Generated Content

• AI feedback is generated by Google Gemini
• AI responses are for entertainment and educational purposes
• We do not guarantee accuracy of AI-generated content
• The "Shifu" personality is fictional

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE:

• Uninterrupted or error-free service
• Accuracy of stroke validation
• Results from using the app for language learning

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

• Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• Loss of data or profits
• Service interruptions

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

• You may delete your account at any time
• We may terminate accounts that violate these terms
• Upon termination, your right to use the app ceases

11. Changes to Terms

We may modify these terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles.
